Today we are experiencing a massive revival of face and body paint using all kinds of materials. Originally revived in the late 60s we saw a creative display of art on the face and body which became so popular it was used in mainstream marketing and advertising as well as on tv and on record covers. It often was on display at music festivals including Woodstock and often went hand in hand with hippies and nudity in the 1960s and 1970s as people started to rebel against social norms.
Today we are seeing more use of glitter and body jewels as well as paint but it is fascinating to see where these ideas have originated from.
